Wow, it is Wednesday already!  Continuing with this month's theme of Yellow Brick Road.  Be sure to swing by the Utah Diva's site and see what they have all been up to.  Remember to check out all the challenges on the site.  Quite a bit of inspiration for those who paper craft - digitally or with the real stuff.

I went super simple this week.  Daffodil Delight base card, Peach Parfait double ribbon strips, Tangerine Flower brads, and Black grosgrain ribbon.  I used the "hello" from the Swirls and Cute Verses Stamp Set (hostess set) and some paper from Sunny Garden backed on Black cardstock.

WWW: Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday #9

Back on track this week with Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday for the Utah Divas.  The theme for May is "yellow brick road".  I chose to paper piece different strips of yellow designer series papers together and then run the whole collage through the BigShot diecut machine.  I used the Daisies Die and then layered the daisies onto black cardstock.  I then added many rhinestones to give it some bling and a few orange circles (the middles of the punched daisies).

Who ever thought it would be soooo hard to take a picture of a flat card??? LOL... anyway, the daisies are much brighter in person than the picture shows.  I invite you all to swing by the Utah Diva's blog to check out the other challenges and to see what the rest of  my team came up with for Yellow Brick Road.

WWW: Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday #3

Welcome to week 3 of the Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday challenge of using green, purple, black and any neutral along with any current accessories.  I know you are going to love the designs for this week.   They are all different yet still showcase the color scheme of the month.   This card came together really easily for me this week.  I had some of the scallops left over from the Petal Cone die when I was making cupcake baskets this past week.  I just had to use them as they are green, Certainly Celery to be exact.  The scallops were textured using the lattice embossing folder and the background Elegant Eggplant was textured using the dot embossing folder.  Now anyone who has seen the musical Wicked, knows that deep down Glinda and Elphaba were BFF's (Best Friends Forever).  They knew each other better than they knew themselves at times.  So I chose to use the Friends Never Fade stamp set.  Add some Black Satin ribbon and some Celery taffeta ribbon to dress it up a bit.  Added two purple buttons to the ribbons to finish it all off.  I love our buttons (I don't sew) but I still love buttons!  My grandma used to have buttons in a huge box for me to play with when I was little - I sorted them many, many different ways.  So what do you think?  This was truly a simple card that was created based on one element - the scallops.

WWW: Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday #2

Welcome back to WWW.  As a reminder the challenges for this UDI adventure is to use the same theme for the whole month. March's theme is to use the colors purple, green, black, any neutral and any accessories (current of course). 

I decided since this St. Patrick's Day is this week, I would use the colors and create a card for the occassion.  Here is what I came up with. 

I used the Lucky Shamrock stamp colored with Concord Crush and Wild Wasabi.  The center is punched and then layered on Concord Crush using the scallop circle punch.  The two "medallions" are created using the small heart punch and forming a shamrock which was then adhered to the black cardstock. I then ran the whole medallion through the BigShot using the Lattice embossing folder.  This is the inlaid embossing technique and is really cool in person. The picture does not do it justice.  There is a scallop border in Concord Crush and it is placed under the black and vanilla striped ribbon.  The Wasabi piece is detailed with the dotted embossing folder and then layered on the card base of Concord Crush.  All elements are popped up with dimensionals.

I had a fun time trying to get this card to photograph!  No matter what I did (tried 12 times) the bottom right corner looks like it is bent, but I swear it is not.  The real card is very straight and not bent at all.  Not sure what I was doing wrong, but hope you enjoy it anyway!

Diva Challenge 89

This weeks challenge was spring themed.  Here is the original picture for the challenge.

Here is my contribution to the Utah Divas Challenge 89.  I used Whisper White as the base and then I used Crushed Curry and ran it though the polka dot embossing folder and then into the Oval Frame die.  I then stamped the flower (used masking technique)  and then colored in the flowers using a mixture of Frost White and Crushed Curry re-inker.  I then ran it through the die and put the middle in the frame.  The card ha a really nice shimmer to it as you tip it.  Simple, but pretty in person!

Retreat 2 Page Spread

I  was asked to help with a retreat and it focuses on scrapbookers.  I developed the two page spread shown using Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Certainly Celery.  I was really into butterflies and enjoyed playing with My Digital Studio to come up with the design.  I have to admit for a color that I am not fond of - Pretty in Pink - I sure have been using it a lot!

RMH Valentines Card

A few weeks back, my downline, Sharon Trauth, asked me to help her with a Ronald McDonald House Valentine card.  This is the card that I came up with although the picture is a little blurry.  It uses Pretty in Pink as the base, Bermuda Bay DSP, Melon Mambo and Whisper White.  The heart is colored in with Melon Mambo mixed with Frost White Shimmer - really pretty in person.  The large hearts were cut out using the heart embossing folder.  Kind of non-traditional but I liked the Bermuda and Pink together.

Gift for a Wonderful Person

I made this card gift box with 4 cards and envelopes for a wonderful gal that keeps everyone in order at work.  She is bright and sunny - and her favorite color is yellow, so I chose Crushed Curry and Whisper White for the colors.

BIG SHOT has arrived!

SU finally has a die cut machine!  Yahoo!  No, it is not the Cuttlebug as originally speculated, but it is the Big Shot, which is even better!!!  This machine can cut up to 50 different types of materials (awesome).  Think of the possibilities (appliques for shirts, quilts, cards, special projects, scrapbooks, other journals/albums)...

Oh, and we get specially designed DIES that match our stamp sets!! How cool is that!?
